What brought you to ACE?
Béa: After a reorganisation at a previous job in the technical sector, I was looking for a new challenge in which I could use my experience. On LinkedIn, I saw a vacancy at ACE for an administrative assistant. Although the vacancy was actually already closed, I decided to get in touch anyway. Thanks to my background and feeling for technical environments, I was still allowed to send in my CV. Not much later, I could start working - and it felt right away.
What exactly does your job entail?
Béa: My responsibilities are very broad. I follow up on orders, check deliveries, process procurement invoices and ensure that administrative processes around projects run correctly. I support our project manager with reports and overviews and monitor colleagues' time registration. In addition, I am also the first point of contact for incoming phones, and jump in wherever needed - even to refilling the coffee machine. All to ensure that others can focus on their core tasks.
What appeals to you about the engineering sector?
Béa: Technology fascinates me. I find it incredible that a customer puts forward an idea, and that a fully working machine eventually emerges from it. I am not an engineer myself, but I have a lot of respect for what my colleagues design, program and build. I also always try to be with the projects: when material comes in, I often know what it's for, and what is being built. That link between the theoretical and the practical is what makes this environment so fascinating for me.
